Here is a template to send to any charities at which you wish you volunteer:

Dear XXXX,

I’m NAME, a current YEAR GROUP student at the University of Cambridge and part of the Cambridge University Hindu Cultural Society. 

I’m contacting you with regards to volunteering opportunities with the local community that I was hoping to undertake between the dates of XXXX and XXXX. I was wondering whether it would be possible to do some volunteering with CHARITY NAME, for 2 to 3 hours during the dates above as I am keen to MOTIVATION.

Please let me know if you’re at all interested and if so, would you mind telling me when and what time works best, what the volunteering work would entail and if any other preparations would be necessary for volunteering.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. As a society, we really hope you support us as we would really like to do something to give back to our local community.
