Mastana 2018 built on the success of previous years to make it an even bigger fundraiser and showcased a wide range of talent from across Cambridge and some external professional acts. This year the show took place on Saturday the 24th of February at the Guildhall, 2 Wheeler Street, Cambridge CB2 3QB from 18:30 until 21:30.
This year, Mastana sold out completely! A testament to the months of hard work that was put into creating the show. The colourful night of food, music, dance and comedy attended by 500 people raised a grand total of £4,500, all donated to two fantastic charities!
This year we raised money for Mind, a UK Mental Health charity and the Saroj Gupta Cancer Hospital and Research Institute, Kolkata, India. The former was especially relevant for students at the University of Cambridge, where it is estimated that around half of the university populous suffers from a mental health disorder. The latter charity had a special personal significance to the Mastana 2018 President, Nishant Bommaya, since it was where his grandmother was cared for at the end of her life and money raised was given directly to a trustee of the institute.
